welcome to ruthablett.com, my tiny corner of the interwebs.

I am a traveller, performing musician, programmer and teacher, linguist, gardener and artist/photographer. As well as many other things.

I love to learn, meet people, experience new things and live creatively. I love collecting experiences, new skills and new perspectives.

news / photos

16 March 2010: I joined the Neo-Victorian and Steampunk Society in my city. Actually, technically I'm a co-founder?
7 September 2009: Our baby daughter was born! I have an online photo album - contact me to get the link (I don't link it directly from here because I don't want it showing up on search engines. I'm aware a rel=nofollow would suffice for most, but it doesn't stop them all)

random stuff about me

I speak English, Japanese (JLPT 2kyuu) and some French. I have studied Latin, Mandarin Chinese, and Tibetan.

In 2005 my gift to the people of Kamikawa-cho, Hokkaido was a Japanese-English food guide. I hope this guide can help other foreigners living in Japan with daily life as well.

Garden Blog - a photo-blog of my vegetable garden here in New Zealand.
Taiko - my Japanese drumming is more than a hobby.
Neo-Victorianism and Steampunk - finally, my interests and styles converge!
